Have taken three round-trip domestic award flights over the last year (all booked at the saver level, though not sure if that matters). All were with my GM wife on the same itinerary, and back when we had access to upgrade inventory in EF, at least some would've cleared at the DM window.

MCO-SLC and back over President's Day Weekend: not even close
PBI-LGA and back in May: declined first upgrade to ride with the wife, both cleared at the gate on the way back
MCO-LGA/JFK-MCO in December/January: both cleared at the gate on the way up, and I cleared at the gate on the way back (though she should've as well...)

It was definitely a nice benefit while it lasted, but since I'm dropping to PM in March (and cannot gift Mrs. Deemus GM anymore), no more award ticket upgrades for me!
