Hertz brought in the $25 drop fee between the airport and city locations across Australia a couple of years ago. It should be noted that it does not apply to all cars, e.g. It doesn't apply to BMW's.

I think Europcar have a similar fee.

Avis and Budget definitely do not have a drop fee in this case and I don't think Thrifty do either.

In my opinion, there is no justification for the fee, given:

- in most places, the majority of the cars live at the airport and cars are trucked to and from the airport daily;
- when collecting a car from the airport, it costs an extra 20-25%.
