Using Avios to pay outright for a WT or WTP ticket is quite poor value, because the taxes and fees are still payable - often amount to not much less than purchasing the ticket outright with cash.

The best use of Avios is to upgrade from WTP to CW (20,000 return for JFK).

In your situation, I wouldn't use Avios at all, and would just book WT with cash. If you must use Avios, then plump for WTP as it is a comfier ride.
