Other than Atlanta, I have never experienced this.
I have a feeling DL has done a wonderful media campaign to make folks think that there is overcrowding "system-wide," when in reality it is a limited problem outside Atlanta.
I totally disagree. Overcrowding in the SCs is a system-wide problem. In the past 2 weeks alone, I have been in 10 or more SCs (JFK, ATL, DTW, DFW, LAX, SAN, etc.). In half of those clubs or more I had a hard time finding a seat. The other clubs I was in at 'off-peak' hours but I have seen those same clubs packed beyond capacity in the past as well. Is it an issue all the time, nope but it's a matter of timing. I don't have a problem with efforts to reduce the overcrowding, I just have an issue with the mechanism of trying to reduce the overcrowding.
