You missed exbayern's answer.
Does it matter? It's an opinion - just like all of our answers are, including your own.
I will say that I suspect most people on this forum tend to associate 'lightweight' with 'carry-on only' or 'one-bagging'. From that perspective, needing or insisting on carrying an item that necessitates checking a bag means one is no longer traveling 'light'. That may be a CPAP or expensive camera or electronic gear or a flask of liquor.
Once you enter the realm of checking a bag, the meaning of 'travelling light' shifts somewhat. Why not take an extra kilo or two for a wheelie bag if you have to check it anyway and you find it makes your life easier outside the airport?
