Or, (sorry Mike!) buy one used! I paid about $1100 for mine (albeit back in 2000, so assume maybe double that now), and it's definitely earned its cost back in priceless rides in amazing places with no bike charges...

But especially with the Gold-level luggage allowance, I bring a bike whenever I think there might be a nice ride available on the other end...
