This happens to me sometimes, as a 1K, from Business Class (not a mileage ticket, and not upgraded). Surprise at the gate upgrade from Business to First Class. Don't forget to ask for turndown service, it won't be offered without asking.

I'm not a fan of the crew working this route. Its the most senior of IAD Based FA's. Senior doesn't necessarily mean good service. I'm going to leave it at that.

There is a pool of FA's that regularly work this route : Urdu speakers, Arab Speakers, and FA that usually works business class, last name Alfonso. Ive seen him a few times, enough to remember face + name

Early on pre merger, there used to be some ladies that used to work this route ALL THE TIME. Then they disappeared. I was told that they had some disciplinary action that UA took. No futher details.

Nice time saver to be able to fly direct, and avoid Europe. Before Emirates + Etihad had their flights to Dulles, this plane used to be more packed, these days its a lot of fly America people ( US Government contractors + consultants)
