Thanks for all of the great tips. I hope the weather in Portland is good and the train is on time so we can enjoy attractions in the area. The Amtrak website indicates there is a lounge.

Regarding the Irvine station, is this the station that is near the Angels stadium or is that the Anaheim station. We went to a game a few years ago and could see the station from the stadium. According to a map, the Irvine station appears to be the most convenient location to Newport Coast, but there are several others in the area and I don't know whether others would be easier to access during weekday traffic.
