Most hotels have generators, but they only power the essentials (computers, emergency lights, fire warning system, etc). I don't know of any hotels that have generators that power televisions, even if they did, chances are pretty good if the power is out, the cable will be also.

Not positive, but I think even hospital generators only power the necessities.
