Thank you all for the responses. Looks like I's spending a few nights at either Amanpiri or FS Koh Samui so I'm hoping to save some money and use a free redemption in HKG. I changed my flights and will arrive at HKG Nov 14 at 3:35 and leave the next day at 1:30pm.
My hotel options are Grand Hyatt, Conrad, Ritz and Intercontinental. Is it a must to stay on Hong Kong Island? I'm thinking of doing the Star Ferry, have a nice dinner, and relax before the long flight back home. Would the Intercontinental be a good option?
I think the IC is a great hotel -- but one of it's great features are the views. If you want a harbour view room, you have to pay a (hefty) upcharge if booking on points. It's also walking distance to the star ferry.
The Conrad may give you a harbour view if you are diamond, but not guaranteed. I've not stayed at the GH or RC so can't comment, other than their locations are not as good in general.
To be honest, you have very little time in HK, so other than a nice dinner and a ride on the Star Ferry, you don't have time to do much else.
