Beside the staff of the foreign airlines in Baku there are for sure caterers, hotels and restaurants in Azerbeijan who would have been delighted to sell soda and sandwiches for a good price to SQ. What did SQ?
The SQ staff went out of the airport and was taking a rest in a hotel.
No firm answers about why other SA carries did not help SQ.
My guess is that from looking at the departure destinations, the flights departing from BAKU all goes to mainly middle eastern locations. Our best bet is lufthansa but can SQ even ask them to send an A380 to fly us to SG?Our a380 flight carried 467 passengers and splitting the passengers up to sending them to another airport might take even more time and trouble?(just guessing here, please don't flame thanks
There was only 1 bar open at the transit area. SQ later set up a billing arrangement with them and the passengers took full advantage of that. Just drinks(alcohols and others) and some small snacks. We were taking whatever we can to teach SQ a lesson about checking plane doors
