Personally, I wouldn't have paid the $641, but I'm one stubborn guy - often to my own detriment.
If you are so inclined, I believe that you have a path to a minimum of some level of compensation. You could end up with as much as a restoration of the original $200 upgrade plus some extra miles for your troubles.
Your posts explain it quite clearly, so you could certainly write to 1kvoice in a manner that they will understand. It wouldn't be very time consuming, and I'd be willing to bet that you get a satisfactory resolution.
