Think about using Ana miles since they are distance based and you can get multiple cities as part of one ticket. There will be fuel surcharges for intraeurope since those wil likely not be on UA or US metal.
I have to agree with
JDiver- short haul European flying like LON-PAR is inferior to Eurostar/TGV, given the haul out to LHR and in from CDG, as opposed to train stations well inside London and Paris, no need for security theatre and boarding scrums. Oh, and the pitch in second class is pretty good (let alone first class). Train travel is a very viable option on short, 150-400 mile journeys.
Also, the OP mentions several sources of miles: NH isn't one of them.
