A lot of ideas that are good for many people become needlessly established as 'always' and 'never' rules in these threads. My own: never throw away money (annual fees that do not return at least an equal value to the account holder in the real world). Maybe it's good for the OP too, especially if he's only applying every year or so.
The exact timing to get the same bonus a second time on a Chase card varies, but it has definitely been done.
