By the time they are in 5th grade, the basics are rock solid.
Your kids might be interested in some small differences in the game: for starters, the bats appear different (they are wider) and the balls are made of rubber. (to my eyes at least; I am no expert)
that is what we want to see, the long weekend practice. We saw a show on that and ever since then, he wanted to do that. I said that stuff doesn't fly over here and the best we can do is go watch one. So we will try to watch one.
While I don't expect to watch 7 hours of practice, I do think it will be quite eye opening (in a good way).
My son will be in the early part of his 12U year. We likely will go on spring break or earlier, hence why I was asking about the season. He asked why they (Japanese players) have such an edge and all I could say is they are better drilled than our players. Why don't we do that? well I said, we are not allowed to practice like that here, parents would have a fit.
Anyway, thanks, I'm definitely going to see if I can find something to go watch with him for a few hours.
Quick question, you said your kid tried out, did he make it or is it like our leagues, where everyone makes it but you have to be selected for the tournament team? It wasn't clear to me whether you were talking about the regular house league season or the tournament team
Also you said all year round, so this would be something we could watch in the off season if we happened to move our trip to the winter?
thanks for your insight
