Well, that's not comparable to what is being discussed here with a possible 75K EQP/EQM tier in my opinion - there are two (one restricted to JAL Global Club members) tiers that qualify for Emerald, one Sapphire and one Ruby.
AA with a 75K tier would be one Emerald, two Sapphire tiers (50K and 75K) and one Ruby, and would put current Platinum (50K) lifetime members in a third tier, down from second tier.
I don't see why having 2 Sapphire tiers would be any more controversial than 2 Emerald tiers. JL also has 2 sapphire level tiers ( JMC Crystal and JMB Sapphire )
There seems to be no resttiction in being a global club member on JL that I can see other than meeting the flying on JL requirements (
