True, the difference being when the politicians try to regulate the utilities it starts off as "we are going to be tough on the utilities" and ends up as "please Mr utilities boss, please don't put your prices up and ruin my chance of re-election".
Sucessive governments have been shown to be either toothless or spineless towards regulation so should therefore keep out of it and let the market decide or take full control and responsibility by bringing these assets back into public ownership.
