Here's one: coming back from BOM earlier this week, I was told that 12 passengers had been denied boarding due to oversales; I noticed during the flight that two individuals were sat for the duration of the flight by doors 5L and 5R in the jumpseats there.

Is this normal to accommodate extra passengers? Where would they sit for take off/landing? Or is it only staff members travelling who would be permitted to sit there?
