ANA flight 1061 on 6th Jan delayed 22 hours due to mechanical problems.
Passengers confined to the plane for 6 hours, stationery on the ground at HNL. Aircon was switched off while they worked on the faulty engine.
ANA handling of situation was terrible. Started serving inflight meals on the stationery plane, instead of getting passengers off.
Passengers eventually taken to a hotel (Hilton)....didn't check-in until 1am.
Replacement aircraft could have been sent from Tokyo within 7 hours but didn't arrive until the afternoon of 7th.
Passengers advised the flight would leave at 2pm on 7th but it didn't take off until after 4pm.
Airline offered passengers 5000 Yen ($50) compensation when they reached HND...
