If it works out, suggest burning all of your HHonors points and then shift to IHG (Holiday Inn brand, etc.) as your new non-preferred chain. They can have amazing last minute point deals for only 5K per night if the timing is right for you. Apply for their co-branded credit card and you can definitely get more free stays than you can at a Hilton portfolio.
