$399 - what hotel is that for? what sort of room? Are you wedded to staying in that one?
There are hundreds of hotels in NY many of which would be cheaper (and some more expensive) than that.

in the area' not sure what area you mean by that. NYC covers a large area but I'm guessing you want to stay in Manhattan though., You need to be a bit more specific about what area you are looking to stay in and what hotel facilities you want.
