Interlining BA to AA on a very long connection

I'm due to travel MAN-LHR-LAX on BA, and then LAX-KOA on AA, on two separate tickets.

The connection at LAX is an overnight one, extending to about 22 hours.

I'm aware that baggage can be interlined as standard on Oneworld connections when on separate tickets. I *think* that a connection, rather than a stopover, is classed as anything less than 24 hours, but I'm unsure of how strictly this is applied.

Does anyone have experience of this? At MAN check-in on BA, are agents likely to deem this a connection rather than a stopover and allow my bags to be through-checked all the way to KOA?

I've had experience of this on other airlines (like LH) without any problem, but wondering how BA might treat long connections.
