Here is Hotwire's response to my email asking them to break down the taxes I paid. They are refusing to even acknowledge if I paid GST. Is this legal ?


At Hotwire, we disclose the full amount that will be charged to your
card prior to purchase. However, we do not offer a breakdown of our
specific taxes and fees, aside from that which is currently on the
Hotwire site.

Please note that your hotel may have additional fees that are not part
of the typical surcharges, taxes, etc. and are not included in the
quoted price. Examples of these are parking fees, resort fees,
convention fees and energy surcharges. You will be required to pay any
such fees directly to the hotel.
