I don't know which ones, I think LCCs which sell point-to-point and are off regular GDS) but I'm lead to believe that some airlines do actually employ this technique - but to the extent that the price rises in smaller increments of a few pounds rather than tens of pounds. I'm lead to believe it's intended to give the sense of urgency to the customer.

Now, that being said, I have this through second-hand information, albeit from someone who ought to know what their talking about as they're attempting to invest in similar technology (unless they've just been fed a sales pitch and it wouldn't be the first time they're not really clear on the facts).

I generally keep myself signed out of ba.com when I make a booking and cookies often cleared first (so I can grab some cashback or/and a discount) so that my searches are traced back to my ba account.
