One significant on DL pilots will be for pilots who commute to work via air. For example, there are quite a few pilots who reside in the BOS area, once a pilot base, who commute to their pilot base, be it NYC or ATL. It is not uncommon to see DL pilots boarding a noon shuttle to LGA or mid-day flight to JFK in order to crew a late afternoon TATL flight. So a pilot may leave his home in the BOS suburbs at 10A to catch that noon flight to NYC in order to crew a 430PM flight to SVO, eventually arriving at 2-3AM body clock time. Will be interested to see how their routines are affected.

Also, under the new rules, the pilots have to sign an attestation that they are good to go. What are the legal ramifications of this attestation, if any? They have always signed off on the dispatch, and there have been FARs which state that pilots should not fly when they are not Fit to go, a vague catch-all rule.
