I would welcome some advice on guesting rules as this will be a first, taking a guest with me to the lounges.

I intend to use my Gold status to guest a travel companion into the flounge in T5, both of us flying in on the same flight from South America. Travel companion has no status and we are flying Economy. From there, I am connecting on a flight headed into Europe a couple of hours or so after arrival at LHR but my travel companion is headed to Asia with a stopover in LHR for around 10 hours.

Accessing the flounge plus guest I assume all falls within norms but what are the rules in this case if I leave before my travel companion? Do I have to escort them off the premises when I leave or are they allowed to stay in the lounge and/or leave the lounge and re-enter at will or is it a case of once they have left the lounge that's it, no re-entry granted (I ask as 10 hours is a long time and it might be nice to break the monotony with tour of the shops)..

No idea how it works and any and all advice gratefully accepted.
