Local pronunciation of a name is always interesting.
Saint John as a person's name in England is pronounced Sinjin for example.
Edinburgh is pronounced Edinburoh.
Toronto is pronounced Trono.
Brits pronounce Houston as Hooston instead of Hewston as a local does.
Gstaad is pronounced Shtad.
But my favourite is a village in Scotland I stayed in for a while. The name is Ravenstruther and locals pronounce it Rainstree. Perhaps not so much a question of pronunciation as of lazy shortening like Trono from Toronto.
Fun thread.
But people will always argue about them. LOL
