Do BA 'spy' on what I'm searching and alter prices accordingly?
A few days ago I was trying to book LGW-MLA on 9th May for £65 one-way (inc hold luggage) but when I got to the payment screen I realised I didn't have my wallet with me. During the search there were '6 seats left at this price'. I went downstairs to put the kettle on then came back upstairs with my credit card, by which time the web page had timed out and I had to start again.
To my surprise, when searching the same flight there were still '6 seats left at this price' but now at £77 one way?! I know that in principle it's only £12 extra (£24 for the two of us) but I was pretty annoyed and decided I'd shop around to see if there was anything better coming up on other carriers.
I go back today and it's now £91 one way with still 6 seats left apparently at that price! Prices on days either side seem to have remained fairly static. We're now talking about a 50% increase in the space of 2 days.
Has anyone else had this? I'm wondering if there's any use in waiting a few days in the hope that I 'trick' the computer in to thinking that I've gone away and booked elsewhere, and therefore put the price down again.
P.S. I know that £91 is hardly a rip-off for a 3 hour flight but it's the principle of a 50% increase on what I was previously prepared to pay that annoys me.
