I think it's great that the FAA, ALPA and the airlines are trying to address crew rest issues, but they are still missing the core cause; and that is the disruption in the crews' circadian cycle. A 10-hour rest period is basically moving a pilot from one work shift to another. If his body is not getting the rest it needs at the same time everyday, he's not going to be at his full potential.

That sucks when there is slight deviation from normal procedures and it throws a pilot off his routine. Maybe something else will get missed. Disasters usually occur because of a chain of little mistakes.
