[QUOTE=Concerto;22102528]I don't see how they are eliminating the segment hunters: M&M has just offered FTL status for 2014 if you complete 30 flights segments. Admittedly, FTL is not much to write home about, but for my Switzerland to Germany commuting it's better than nothing.

Maybe I'm a 'mag sub addict', maybe not, I don't know: I usually have at least 2 subs a year, never more than 4, because I like to read everything I get. I think they have done a lot for folk like myself to learn the German language, and reading is just as important as being able to speak it.. My last two subs had nothing to do with miles, but were offered from other sources (the bank and the wine shop Jacques). Surely the mag subs earn money for M&M, otherwise they wouldn't continue them (I hope they keep offering them, anyway). Maybe the excessive fuel surcharges make up for any loss here and there and compensate somehow.

For me, the main thing now is that I do not want the fuel surcharges, or whatever charges, to increase any more. They have simply gone beyond the limit of what is reasonable. That is why everybody is up in arms about it. If that is what they really need to justify the cost of having the programme and offering 'free' tickets and other benefits, then it is poor show to keep jacking the mileage prices up, take away upgrade benefits, etc. Obviously, if the surcharges on mileage tickets sometimes exceed the price of a revenue, mileage-earning ticket, then something has gone fundamentally wrong in the logic somewhere.

Oh, and don't get me started on the increasing cost of paying fuel surcharges with miles on European award tickets...[/

for me, so far this has been the post of the year 2014...
