Just spent a week here on a C+P booking and it was an all-around great experience.
As an SPG Plat I was hoping for a suite upgrade but none were available as they were completely full when I checked in on NYE. My room on the third (top) floor of building 3 was perfectly fine anyway, with a great pool and ocean view from the balcony. Note that buildings 1-3 overlook the pool/ocean (building 3 seeming closest to the ocean) while 4-6 overlook the gardens and are a bit more of a walk from the lobby area and exit. The only (very minor) annoyance for me was that regular rooms have only a shower – if you’re after a bath these are exclusive to suites (as far as I was told by the ladies at the front desk). Not a big deal, I just appreciate lying in a hot bath after a particularly active day.
Room wasn't ready when I arrived at 2pm (I hadn't advised what time I was arriving) so waited 20 minutes at the bar. I’d read that the wifi in some blocks was spotty so I asked them to put me in a room with good coverage and they said it wouldn't be a problem. When I got to the room I found a wifi extension point had been installed on the desk. I can’t be sure if it had been placed there specifically to address my concerns, but it certainly didn’t look like a permanent fixture. In any case the internet worked fine and I had no problems with remote access to my UK office network.
The daily breakfast buffet had a large selection, with enough variety so I didn’t get bored over the week - maybe not up to the standards of the buffets at *wood properties in Bangkok or KL, but nothing to complain about. I was told that breakfast isn’t included for C+P bookings but I could choose it as my platinum amenity instead of the 500 points. Didn’t try the dinner buffet or the poolside restaurant, but the Sunset Bar was very pleasant and the 2-for-1 offer during happy hour brought the prices more in line with what you’d expect to spend in more local venues. A very short stroll brings you to the beachside restaurants by the art market, which are mostly pretty good.
I didn’t find the pool particularly small as I’ve read in some other online reviews – there was plenty of space (and given the season occupancy was very high). Guests were from a very broad range - young and old couples, families, groups, locals and foreigners. The pool and garden area are very well maintained and while not being flashy certainly don’t come across as cheap and tacky. Staff were all uniformly friendly and very eager to please, though that seems to be the norm across the island anyway.
The gym’s rather small with only two treadmills and an antique step machine for cardio. It could definitely do with some expansion and updated equipment – four people working out and the room felt crowded.
Senggigi makes a great base for Lombok and the Sheraton’s well located. If going to the Gilis though it’s better to find accommodation on one of the islands as the return boats to Lombok stop early in the afternoon, so day trips aren’t practical unless you’re fine with spending just a few hours there. All in all a very satisfactory stay and I’m looking forward to coming back.
