Tax on Buying Electrical Goods in Transit at NYC
Morning forum,


i wondered if anyone could tell me accurately what tax i would pay on a $599 product bought at JFK whilst in International Transit from Columbia to the UK? Products and passengers end point is the UK.

I assume as its tax free in USA i don't pay the 8.5% State Tax, but what i don't know id where i pay the UKs 20% VAT Rate on the product when home? Or because its bought at the airport, that product is essentially Tax Free and the £599 is all i pay?
