I'm not sure if you are asking too much.
If you have plans for another half dozen stays in 2014, ring up the general manager or rooms division manager and have a chat about your upcoming visits and how you'd like things set up. Point out your last half dozen stays, too.
What you are experiencing is line staff not picking up on little things. I suspect a call to management...not complaining, mind you, just requesting a few things being automatic...will make a big difference.
