Thanks for posting, OP. This is quite timely.

I already have a confirmed booking HKG-YVR in Prem Econ, which cost me HKD 25,000+ (flights during Chinese New Year). I thought it would be a good idea to cancel this booking (HKD 1,200 penalty), and then rebook for the Premium Bundle Fare of 1 Long Haul + 2 Short Haul at HKD 17,380+taxes.

I realize that there might be availability issue with the long-haul flight HKG-YVR on 31.Jan, and if I were to cancel and rebook, would I be able to rely on a Diamond MPC seat guarantee for Premium Economy class? I have two upcoming flights on 11 and 12.Jan, which will put me to 80.5 sectors, and will qualify me as Diamond (I am Gold now). Any advice/feedback would be appreciated.

I also called CX Reservations to inquire about the two short-haul flights under this promotion, and here is where I got some discrepancy. I asked their supervisor to call me back, but have yet to receive this call. To sum up:

Relevant T&C being "disputed": "Premium Economy Class is not available on Dragonair. For those destinations served by both Dragonair and Cathay Pacific (including Beijing, Fukuoka, Manila, Shanghai, Taipei), passengers will fly on Cathay Pacific Premium Economy Class. If the destination is only served by Dragonair, passengers will fly Business Class if available, or Economy Class if not. In all cases, passengers will be advised of this before they confirm their booking."

My first short-haul flight planned is HKG-PEK. CX Reservations told me that my flight would definitely be booked in Class V economy and not in Premium Econ. She said that PEK was one of the destinations that is an exception. Well, in the T&C which I have bolded, it clearly states PE would be offered to Beijing. She then said that she didn't know about this condition (go online, I told her), and in any case, not all aircrafts have PE. That is fine, I said, but as long as I chose a flight which has PE being sold, then CX should book me in PE, right? No, CX said...still books into econ. I am waiting for CX to call me back to clarify.

My second short-haul flight planned is HKG-SHA (Hongqiao). This is operated by KA only, and does not offer PE service. Again CX Reservations said that I would only be ticketed in Econ, whereas the T&C says I should be ticketed in Business Class if available. The agent said that, even if Business is available, all agents have been instructed to ticket SHA into V class economy.

Two different agents gave the same info above. The last one even said (and I paraphrase), "it does not matter what the T&C said. The last sentence [which i have indicated in RED above] gives CX the final decision in what class to offer." Seems like "bait and switch" to me?

When the CX Supervisor calls me back, I will post later.
