Yesterday (1/3/14), an unscheduled 747 flew from DTW to JFK, arriving into gate B41. A few hours later, a 747 departed that same gate to TLV - presumably the same plane that came from DTW. This evening (1/4/14), another unscheduled 747 flew from JFK to DTW. Only explanation I can come up with is the plane originally scheduled to fly to TLV had maintenance issues and plane had to be brought in from DTW. Needed to then reposition another plane to DTW today. Based on the NRT and TLV flights to JFK, does not appear to be related to weather at JFK yesterday.
