Hi im looking for search tips for RTW travel, not the usual like try star alliance, one world or flight centre
Im after anyones sneaky tricks to book the indiviual flights yourself etc,

EG.. i found last time travel agents, star alliance, one world wanted 13k+ for our 4x RTW tickets, but i searched one way Sydney to London with a 1 week stopover in Thailand and then a one way London to Sydney with a 1 week stop in USA and got the flights for 10k for the 4 of us.

This time im after Sydney - LA - London - pacific islands - Sydney
Im finding if i book with united SYD - LAX - LHR - LAX i get a good price as Sydney to London with United stops at LAX

After Heathrow there wasnt pacific islands options so flying back to LAX allows me to change airlines and fly to papete with Air tahiti Nui and then home to Sydney, add a return Papete to Bora Bora and got a price of just under 12k for 4 of us

also went to The cook islands in May 2013, 4 of us, got flights Sydney to Rarotonga return and Rarotonga to Aitutaki return, plus 2 week accomodation for family of 4 total $4500, searching each thing for yourself can be such a $$ saver

so after any personal tips like good sites to search out flights with, ways to save money on flights, times of the day or week to search out flight etc
