I'm not an expert on this, but is it not the case that a 767 cannot use the lower numbered gates used by domestic due to a lack of space? There is one it can use (gate 5 is it?). Otherwise yes, it's due to the fact that it is inbound from international (IST, ARN, AMS) and the gate concerned isn't domestic enabled. It would save everyone time and money if the photo recognition system was spread to all A gates, but sadly it is not the case.

I've been through it a few times, also in arriving from domestic which is a nuisance for thems at the front with connections..... Last thing on a wet night it's not a good departing experience but it can be quite fast if they have got their act together.
