DFW-FRA continued
The fantastic service began once in flight. First a hot towel with a pink rose petal.

IFE screen. Selection was limited and the screen is quite small by today's standards.

Amuse bouche to start.

Appetizer service cart

Caviar

Appetizers - citrus scallops and beef tataki

Main course - tenderloin of beef

Dessert - creme caramel flan

After the meal service, it was time to take a nap so the FA came by for turndown service. The mattress pad was relatively comfortable but because the armrests are still in their standard position, it felt a little bit narrow. Still one can get a reasonable sleep on there but not as comfortable as the new F and certainly not as comfortable as the 744 F separate bed.

After sleeping for a few hours, I woke up to catch up on some emails and watch some movies/TV shows on the IFE. Then, time for a light breakfast of fruits and muesli.

We landed into Frankfurt ahead of schedule and I had to plan what to do for the next 12 hours. In order to get to the NH 77W flight, I had to schedule a long layover in FRA and catch the last flight out to LHR which meant (1) going to the LH FCT and (2) a lot of time spent on a layover. My original plan was to see the Christmas markets in Frankfurt but I should have done more research ahead of time. Apparently, the markets close by Christmas eve - the day I landed. Oops - fail! And not the last fail on this trip.

So instead of that, I thought I would go visit Mainz for a few hours. On a prior trip, I had spent about 10 hours at the FCT but even that's a bit too much time in any lounge.

I first went to the nearest lounge which happened to be the Senator Lounge to get a quick shower and check on emails. The lounge agent - rather loudly - said that I can go to the F lounge but I stayed there for a little bit since I knew I had plenty of F lounge time. Also from what I understand, I would have to go through security again in order to get to the F lounges (but others please correct me if I am wrong).

Also, I wasn't sure that one could go to the FCT and leave your belongings there. But on my return flight, seems like somebody was doing that and they didn't have an issue with it.

Mainz
Just a short 30 min S-Bahn (S8 or S9) ride away was the town of Mainz. Since it was Christmas eve, there wasn't a lot going on or stuff open but it was still good to get out and walk around for a while. Some photos from around town.

Part of the Christmas market decorations there were slowly being taken down.
