AC is actually pretty good at recognizing Star Gold compared to United.

I almost think there needs to be a Star Alliance level above gold that has actual benefits on partner airlines. Something like a Platinum level that gets all the benefits the airline offers to its own Gold members (maybe with the exception of upgrades). Multiple bags, free E+, free SDC... One can dream
