I get that people are subjected to extra scrutiny based on a lack of ID, but having an ID somehow makes me less of a threat (as long as I am willing to submit to the NoS)?
At what point does the general public realize the TSA is no improvement over airport security on 9/10/01?
I was rejected for a NEXUS card at ORD last year.
TSO: "Sir, this isn't a valid ID"
Me: "Sir, it's issued by the DHS. You know -- you. It's one of YOUR IDs. It's also listed on your website as a valid form of identification."
TSO: "Are you going to keep holding up the line and keep being snippy with me or are you going to find me some legitimate ID?"
Me: (After digging through my bag for a few minutes for my Canadian passport) "Does this count?"
TSO: "If you had this on you why didn't you just give it to me in the first place? Fine." (waves me through)
I spoke to his manager on the other side, who apologized profusely and promised she'd speak to him. She tried to explain that as a domestic checkpoint they don't see too many NEXUS card. She assured me it was part of their training to recognize valid identification.
Somehow, I doubt she spoke to him, but that's just the cynic in me. Little did I know I could have just pulled out my cell phone and showed him my duck face selfie profile pic
