HAM Hamburg

Like AMS, turnarounds at HAM are pain free - no security checks and no passport control. BA uses Gates B20 to B32 located on a pier connected to the main terminal. However BA does occasionally use a gate outside this area. There is a poorly signposted transfer route to airside. Most of the terminal amenities are located in the Schengen gate area and while these are accessible, it does involve passport control in both directions. If going landside allow 20 minutes to return to airside.

Terminal facilities
  • Wifi: free service provided by BBG Global AG
  • Toilets: WCs are present at several points along the route, and within the non-Schengen gate area
  • Smoking: Lucky Strike lounge in the Schengen gate area near Gate A20
  • Food/beverages/book shop: very little on offer in the gate area itself (one bar) but there are restaurants and shops in the adjacent Schengen area.
  • Lounge: BA's designated lounge is 8 minutes away above Gate A19 after security but before passports, so going to the lounge means two passport checks
  • Terminal map

FT back to back turn-around rating: Excellent
FT airside transfer rating: Excellent if non-Schengen, Good if Schengen
FT landside transfer rating: Reasonable
