The general practice on Alaska seems to be that if you have an F seat you can give it to whomever you want, as long as it's another ticketed passenger on the same flight.
I do this all the time, its not an issue, once a FA came back to make sure we actually swapped and that we did switch seats.
I will give up a free drink or two to avoid glaring looks the rest of the day from the spouse.
