Although disappointing that UA is not following its published upgrade rules, this isn't a huge deal; I bought Y and I flew Y. It's the last two instances that were frustrating when we've been auto-split and then lost our seats together when someone else was upgraded into my now empty E+. I will state the little caveat that the gate staff has ALWAYS been wonderful in trying to put us back together in Y, but if the computers were working correctly in the first place...
