I would also go for a window pair of seats but I am not bothered about the first row. Just avoid the last, next to the loo. I don't get on with the leg rest in the first row.
Service starts at the front on the AB side usually in Wt+ and is not prioritised for status.
If you look at the menu and you really don't want one of the options, mention it to the crew, perhaps in the drinks round, as the cabin does not carry any spare meals...
