I think access to the arrivals lounge will be unlikely, the boarding pass from your inbound will show the class actually flown and not the original fare paid for.

As this position is BA's doing, I'd be wanting them to get me home in the cabin originally paid for whether it's on one of their planes or someone else's. Accepting economy lets them off the hook IMO.
