I had 2 one-way rentals in the past week (Katy, TX to IAH with Hertz and LAX to Bakersfield with Avis). You get some AWFUL cars when you rent one-way. The first Hertz car i got was a 2012 Avenger with 40k miles. I swapped it at IAH because the change oil light was on (that was the excuse I went with, at least...) and they gave me a corolla also with 40k on it because she thought i was returning it to Katy. I swapped it in their exchange section for an Altima with 3k miles.

The Avis one way i was given a 2012 (or earlier) Malibu. Took one look at it and bee-lined for the exchange section where i picked up a brand new 2014 Subaru XV with 217 miles on it. I'm sure management wouldn't have been too happy that I took that one out of their fleet, but it was a great car.
