Not really strange - we're using a 2-4-1 from LHR to SYD and at the time of booking we had to book the SIN-SYD-SIN legs in WT as that was all that was available. We quite often have to do this on popular routes but have always managed to upgrade WT seats to F or CW by the time we fly.
