Introduction
It's the holidays and what better way to spend that time than another miles redemption for some of the world’s best carriers. I suppose there is extra incentive provided by the “friendly” folks at United who are encouraging us to burn through the miles before crushing their values on such redemptions. My original intent was to maximize flying to get as many F products as possible and to finally experience TG F, ex-BKK. I also wanted to experience NH F again as their service is fantastic - they also release little space so I am always excited to be able to snag an award seat.

The other side benefit of this routing is the Rimowa kits that are being handed out by LH, NH, and TG, though that wasn't really the original intent of the trip but just a nice addition.

Here is the overall routing, with travel of nearly 30k miles within a 2 week period.

In terms of cost, this was fully an award redemption. I ended up booking separate one-ways as I wasn’t able to fully lock in a return at the beginning; thus I had to tack on an extra one-way via Lifemiles.
• DFW-FRA-LHR-NRT-BKK: 70k United miles
• BKK-NRT: 50k Lifemiles
• NRT-FRA-DFW: 67.5k United miles

DFW: The Club and American Express Lounge

The Club
Checked into my Lufthansa flight and was provided an escort to the lounge. Apparently, escorts are done out of DFW though clearly not at all stations in the US. There was no line at security though it sounds like they try to cut to the front, TSA agent permitting.

Lufthansa uses The Club at DFW for first class passengers, even having a separate room designated for those pax. It isn’t anything fancy but nice to have a separate private area to work and relax.

Since DFW just opened the Centurion lounge, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try that as well.

American Express Centurion Lounge, DFW
I had read plenty of great reviews about this lounge – and they are indeed justified. It is a fantastic lounge and arguably the best lounge one can find in the USA. For some reason, I had assumed it would have been bigger but still a decent size and not too crowded. Lots of hot food options in addition to a full bar, and a Spa for a complimentary 15 min massage.

Service levels were also fantastic. I sat in a quiet corner and the staff would periodically come by to see if I needed anything. Try and find that at a United Club!

L'Occitane amenities in the shower room

As boarding time was approaching, I returned to The Club to await my escort.
