No, they're not. Regarding the mattress topper, the next time you check in you should casually drop something like, "By any chance did you have the mattress topper removed in my room? I've had to ask for you to do that my past couple of stays, so I figured you would show some of that legendary Ritz-Carlton service and have it all set for me by now!" I'd also bring it up with anyone from management that you happen to bump into. They will inevitably ask how your stay is going, which is the perfect chance to tell them about the M&M wrapper story, but how your experience hasn't quite lived up to that. I suspect they will appreciate the feedback, and likely kick up your (and hopefully everyone else's) service from that point on.
