The FF trend is reduce or "enhance" benefits, the reason BA has been adding new higher tier-level benefits is to give us incentives for increasing our spending. No additional incentive benefits are needed for Silver members; because their incentive to increase their spending is Gold status.

Moreover, the proposed SGL benefits are better than the actual Gold and GGL benefits, such as lounge passes, free ticket changes, and cabin upgrades just for years of membership. The introduction of these types of new benefits just won't work unless BAEC gets an overhaul, and none of us will want a BAEC overhaul, because it will mean a devaluation of Avios and cuts to our benefits.
